I don't know what's more upsetting, that the power cord has been deliberately stripped of its plug, or that there is a manufactured device to encourage that behavior.
actually you can be a bit less upset - that's not why they manufactured the box like that - the box is meant to accommodate two different types of plugs - the two prong plug folks are familiar with in the states, and the two cylinder plug often used in southeast asia.
by far my most useful travel accessory on business trips through se asia has been a universal plug converter i got in the us - i've used at least four different plug configurations while traveling through this region.
