Our second stop in Sukhothai was the old city of Si Satchanalai. There was lots of jungle, and a whole mess of cranes. The cranes seemed to fill the trees over a large section of the park, and were very noisy. It was a veritable crane-fest, for all cranes except the eaten one.
Our first stop in Sukhothai was Wat Phra Si Rattana Mah, on the outskirts of the Si Satchanalai historical park. We had the temple ruins all to ourselves, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. Access was by a wire bridge over a swift, wide river, which was exciting. A large suspension bridge was being built on the other side of the temple grounds as well.
