"I am milk" is probably the best packaging I have ever seen. Giant Robot Magazine did a feature on Asian corporate characters once. I've been trying to replicate that aesthetic with some of my Space Squid illustrations, but without perfect success as of yet.
hope these pics of asian packaging are helping - i think they're almost universally brilliant. click the 'squid' tag on the right side to see a roll up of some squid logo pictures - cartoon squid is definitely a prominent theme on food packages around se asia...
i think the trick is 'kawaii' - most us corporate logos (e.g. cartoon characters that sell cereal) are not kawaii. get the kawaii right and you'll have the aesthetic.
