yes! thank you for confirming, it's hard to describe bun cha to someone who hasn't tasted it before. i noticed that this is one of the few foods we photographed in vietnam (or southeast asia for that matter) that wasn't ever represented in its finished form. why? i have pondered that, and have decided that i was just too darn busy eating it to take a picture. so i took photos of the components as they were laid on the table, and said, i'll take a round-up picture once it's all there, and then started eating, and then lost myself eating it for a while and at the end said 'oh, i probably should have taken a picture of what it looked like in the middle'.
fortunately these fine folks have done more thorough analysis for me:
