Singapore day two - it's all about the food

Singapore has just fabulous food.  Today we went to Chinatown, and spent a couple wonderful hours on lunch at the Maxwell Road Hawker Center - sort of an enclosed set of street food vendors.  The pictures tell the story - I waited in line about half an hour for some egg/chicken/fish rice porridge (divine!), and raw fish plate (excellent).  We also ate some various pieces of fruit, vegetable and dough smothered in a spicy paste with a fermented shrimp base.  And we washed it all down with lime juice.  Scrumptous!

And what better way to say Merry Christmas than with some Pizza Hut.

We also toured a lot of buildings downtown - one of the most famous is a set of two buildings that look like durians (a spiky looking fruit).  Note also some examples of Singapore money, the primary purpose of which is to buy food.

And at the end of the day, it rained.  That doesn't have to do with food per se, but it made an impression, so we thought we'd share.
